The Code Behind the New Mobile Horoscopes

Not a single, solitary person has asked, but here it is, anyway. The technology behind the mobile horoscopes is a combo of our lovely SMHoroscopesWriter, a custom Cocoa app the Q.I. Software team worked on, which now exports two different kinds of HTML and an XML format for general consumption (you, too, can integrate horoscopes into your app!).

But the real interesting stuff comes from iUI, which you can grab from here. Really, really nice JS and CSS library… it makes it really easy to make your app look nice for the good old iPhone…

Mobile Horoscopes (and more)

Since I’ve been so prolific (via AllConsuming) today, I figured I’d give a little shout out to what’s going to be announced with next week’s Sane Magazine issue.

Horoscopes for your phone… or… iHoroscopes! Thrilling! (It’ll look fine in Safari, or Omniweb, but it’ll look even better on your brand-spanking new iPhone…)

And, as you may or may not know, the main issue is optimized for iPhone, as well, already. So get your Sane Magazine fix on the web.

Oh, and (jeez, I’ll be full of announcements, come Monday) you can now buy new designs on the good old Sane Magazine shop. Like this one.

Wily Mo’s Message to the Boston Fans

Via the Boston Herald:

[Wily Mo] released this statement Sunday:
“To my sisters, brothers and fans of the Red Sox [team stats] Nation. I want to take a moment to thank you and the entire Red Sox organization for your support during my time in Boston. Your constant passion for baseball and your beloved Red Sox is unmatched and has touched me deeply. I will always consider you with a special place in my heart.
“The Red Sox organization deserves only the best and the Red Sox Nation is just that. Peace in life, Wily Modesto Pena.”

That’s pretty nice… he seemed like a great guy, very earnest, and it’s a shame it didn’t work out for him in Boston… his monster swings were something to behold (yes, even missing those curveballs). While I won’t miss his outfield performances, it’s a pity we didn’t get to see the potential realized here.

I am a Shoe Hacker

Just got done with the instructions at Podophile:
Podophile » Blog Archive » Shoe Hacker: Nike+iPod Sport Kit Shoe Mod.

Now, it may have taken me slightly longer than 10 minutes it took this guy, as my now ancient home economics skills have probably failed me, and I don’t think my report in 5 months time will be quite the same as his (still going – mine may be along the lines of: “So the piece of Velcro I spent 20 minutes sewing to the tongue of the shoe has come off, five minutes into my first run, which is surprising only because I was able to run 1) for 5 minutes and 2) I was traveling fast enough for something to fall off my shoe, even if it is a poorly sown on Nike+ thing).”), but still. I’ve just managed to avoid paying $8 for something that I’d probably be able to have a lot more faith in.

We’ll see how we get on.

The sole reason I got one of these is because of a post like Cabel’s (cabel.name: Multiplayer Game Of The Year) and some similar sentiments from Jamie… so we’ll see. Maybe it’ll make a runner out of me yet.
